Tickets cost £1 and are available from choir members or at the concert in Winchester Cathedral on 21 June, 2014 (by kind permission of Winchester Cathedral).  Proceeds from the prize draw will go towards the choir's fundraising goal of £10,000 for the performance costs of a new work, to be performed in November 2016.
The draw will be held at the SPC's AGM on the evening of Monday 15 September, 2014. 
Winners, if not present, will be notified using the contact details given on the ticket counterfoil.
 

About the artist

Mike Greaves spent 20 years working in London, commuting into King’s Cross or Waterloo.  It was during this time that London really made an impression on him and he began to appreciate its diversity and its ability to astonish and surprise.

It was the architecture that first attracted the artist.  Over the years, in a series of annual sketch books, Mike has captured the places that have most interested him.  Sketches of London have jostled with others from the UK and further afield.

Many of these original sketches have been reproduced for his first solo exhibition in the Barbican Library (June 2014), and these and others can be found in the book, Rambling About London.

As a gift to the choir Mike has captured Winchester Cathedral from Colebrook Street, giving a view of the Lady Chapel at the East end of the Cathedral.   He completed the painting to mark the choir’s (2013) performance of the Verdi Requiem, which was sung without scores.  For Mike, the resulting performance was ‘electrifying and unforgettable’.
