SPC is a friendly and welcoming, performing choir; there is an expectation that members commit to taking part in our concerts and attend sufficient rehearsals in order to be properly prepared for performance. Rehearsals are at Turner Sims on Monday evenings, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, with a short break at about 8.30pm. Our first rehearsal of the 2024-25 season is on 23 September.

We currently have spaces in our bass and tenor sections. Applicants to join our sopranos and altos may be asked to go on a waiting list.

Membership fees are one of our main sources of income, helping to pay for the promotion of concerts and the professional players and soloists we use. Despite this, our subs are less than the fees for many adult education classes. For the 2023-24 season, full subscription was £145.00; new members, £72.50 for their first year; members aged under 25 years at the start of the season, £25.00. The coming season's subs will be agreed by the membership at the AGM on 7 October.
