Whether you're a member of the choir or not, you're welcome to apply for a place at our choral workshop, The Agile Voice at The Gregg School, Southampton on Saturday, 5 February. Over the course of the day, guest leader, Jacquelyn Fugelle, and the choir's own musical director, David Gibson, will use passages from Mozart's C Minor Mass (Peters edition) as the basis for exploring and putting into practice various aspects that combine to produce vocal agility. Topics include clarity, breath control, posture, articulation and the Latin text, vocal line, resonance and voice placing, communication and – last but not least – the sheer joy of singing! Music hire (Peters edition) is included in the workshop fee of £14 (£3 for students). During the lunch-break (please bring a packed lunch), you are free to explore the listed garden, which was planned by Gertrude Jekyll and is maintained through the efforts of the Friends of Townhill Park Gardens. Lunch will be followed by a short master-class, in which Jacquelyn will give the two selected participants the benefit of her experience of years on the concert platform, while all are welcome to listen, admire and learn. If you are interested in taking part in the master-class, please tick the appropriate box on the booking form. Successful applicants will be notified several days in advance of the workshop and asked to prepare a piece of approximately 3 minutes' duration. There is no additional fee for taking part in the master-class. To make a booking, or for more information, please refer to the booking form.
